A DARWEN residents association will be making rough designs for a new play area to keep children away from busy roads.
Local charity trust, WM and BW Lloyd, today handed over a £2,500 cheque to the Springfield Street and Alice Street Residents Association.
The next step, says chairman Tom Goodson, is to draw up designs for the area.
He said: "We've got the money and now it's down to getting the planning permission by coming up with some good designs.
"We're thinking of a mini football and netball pitch for the kids in the area.
"It will be something they will enjoy and it will also mean they are safe and their parents will know where they are and what they're up to."
