AN accidental death verdict has been recorded on a Brindle man, fatally injured while riding a motorbike in Italy.
David Gilson had gone abroad to renovate a house.
An inquest heard that 57-year-old Mr Gilson, of Sandy Lane, Brindle, was riding a powerful motorbike when he was in collision with a car in September last year.
He died from multiple injuries.
At a Preston inquest, extracts were read from official documents sent to this country by Italian police, relating to the accident.
A woman driver saw the motorcycle travelling in front of her on September 6. She was concerned that the rider might not have realised something about the road layout and tried to attract his attention.
The motorcycle collided with another vehicle. Mr Gilson died in hospital, and a post mortem showed the cause of death was multiple injuries.
Recording an accidental death verdict, Coroner Mr Howard McCann said it seemed that Mr Gilson had gone on to the wrong side of the road.
