FOUR suspected terrorists arrested in Manchester are still being questioned by detectives at Scotland Yard.

One of the men, a 35-year-old North African, was taken into custody from a house in Deal Street, Pimhole, Bury, during a dawn raid yesterday. All four were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 and taken to London for questioning at Scotland Yard.

Two men aged 30 and 32 were detained in separate raids in Hulme, while a 31-year-old man was arrested in Stretford. The raids were carried out by the Anti-Terrorist Branch at the Metropolitan Police and officers from Greater Manchester Police's Tactical Aid Unit shortly after 5am.

Forensic officers were still searching the three properties early today as part of the investigation.

A police spokesman said the arrests were not connected to the murder of Det Con Stephen Oake but part of an ongoing national investigation into terrorism.
