YOUR report (LET, January 18) that three companies have been short-listed in the bidding to design Darwen's £11 million new health centre said that they will work closely with health professionals and local people for views on design.

Which local people will they work with? The same ones they consulted with when they decided to put the new health centre behind the Leisure Centre?

As I've said before, I'm not against a new health centre, but only against where they want to build it, on the grounds that it is not suitable for anybody with any mobility problems. I'm still waiting to hear if they will hold a public meeting about the other places they could build it.

I note that Mr David Brunskill, director of corporate development for Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust, says Darwen people will have their say on the new proposals.

Well, if it's anything like the choice of a site for the new health centre, we didn't get our say on that, so what is the point getting a say on anything else?

All this is like the way decisions are made at Blackburn with Darwen Council -- by one person without any debates -- and they say it's for the best as they have been voted in by the people.
