AN investigation has been launched into a blaze at an empty Radcliffe house.

Two teams of firefighters from Whitefield and Bury spent just under 20 minutes bringing the flames under control at the property in Dumers Lane.

Neighbours raised the alarm at 6.40pm on Sunday (Jan 26) after seeing smoke pouring from the ground floor.

Four firemen wearing breathing apparatus had entered the house to ensure no-one was trapped.

A spokesman for Whitefield fire station said: "The house had recently been vacated by its owners and there was a lot of rubbish inside.

"We found two separate fires in the house on our arrival."

The matter has now been passed over to the police who are investigating the suspected arson attack.
