DEFENDER Nicky Hill's hopes of a recall to first team duties for the vital visit of promotion rivals Oxford United were dented when a chance of a run-out for the reserves on Thursday night were halted when the clash with Manchester United was postponed.

Elsewhere, Simon Whaley is still more than a fortnight away from shaking off his knee problem, while striker Gareth Seddon will also need plenty of patience while recovering from his recurring back injury.

"There has been a slight improvement but it is only slight," said Preece.

"He's doing a little bit of running but he's still getting a bit of a reaction and it could be a while before he's fit again."
