ORGANISATIONS in Pendle who work with young people from ethnic communities were able to swap ideas during an event in Nelson.
Members of Pendle Information Providers (PIPs) and staff from the careers advice projects Empower and Connexions gathered at the Empower offices in Cross Street yesterday.
The Empower project supports young people and their families in the ethnic minority community as they make their career and life choices.
It plans to step up its activity in 2003 and those involved met to plan the development of the project, which is part of Connexions Lancashire and is funded by Pendle Partnership.
Activities and events organised include insight day visits to training providers, colleges, higher education institutions and local employers.
Representatives involved in PIP include Pendle Training, Nelson and Colne College, Pendle Pakistani Welfare Association, Lifeline, Burnley College, Ithaad Community Development, Faislabad Welfare Association, Pendle Borough Council, the Royal Navy, Army Careers, the National Probation Service, Prince's Trust, Lancashire Constabulary, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, Training 2000, Environmental Action Group and Lancashire Youth Association.
