HELPING to put their house in order! That's a dot.com company launched by an enterprising Bury businessman which aims to give home improvement "cowboys" the bullet.

The website, www.no-hiccups.com houses an impressive dossier of comprehensive information on all aspects of home improvement, together with money-saving trade discount offers.

Founder and managing director of the Internet company is Michael Orr (36), who has harnessed his expertise and experience within the home improvement market to offer a key on-line guide to householders.

Michael has been involved in this particular sector for more than 16 years and his experience has been gained from progressive management roles, including national marketing manager for the Premier Group of companies.

He is also the founder and managing director of HIC (Home Improvement Consultants) Ltd.

The former St Gabriel's High School pupil spent 14 years in London where he ran a thriving business involved in house renovations. But he moved back to his native Bury in August.

Michael said: "No-hiccups.com is a natural progression from HIC. I formed HIC to help home-owners find and undertake business with reliable and professional builders, tradesmen and home improvement companies."

In essence, the website offers advice, materials, products and services to tradesmen and homeowners throughout Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Greater London and the Home Counties.

"With the use of the Internet, we can now offer our learned knowledge and experience of home improvements throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland and not just in our catchment areas of North, North West London and Hertfordshire", added Michael.

The website acts as a virtual A-Z directory for anyone considering home improvements. There are pages covering quotations, listings, architects, planning and building regulations as well free on-line seminars.

And the company has also negotiated "substantial" trade discounts with many suppliers of products and services within the home improvement industry, ranging from five per cent to 50 per cent savings.

Michael added: "We want to educate the public on all aspects of home improvements which I've been involved in all my working life."

He continued: "I want to educate the public and to try to reduce the cowboy element in the market and to bring together genuine home-owners."

Michael is keen to increase the number of people registering on to the site. And there is also an on-line booking form for trade and professional registrations, allowing them to be given free entry on the no-hiccups cash-back page.

Now, thanks to Michael's shrewd decision to set up his own website, he's helping take the hassle out of home improvements..
