A DARWEN councillor who kicked off the M65 Services name campaign has accused the Highways Agency of ignoring the facts.

Coun Dave Smith, of Sunnyhurst ward, said the agency should go with public opinion in light of the developers' decision to change the sign from Blackburn to Darwen Services.

He said: "The developers have been very co-operative but, yet again, the Highways Agency still aren't listening to what the people want.

"The developers have changed their mind so why can't they? It would be simple to do but it would mean a lot to the people of Darwen."

A spokeman for the agency stressed the developers would have to pay the costs if the sign was to be changed.
