RESIDENTS were given healthy eating advice at Darwen's Holistic Centre this week.

The Belgrave Square venue played host to a specialist from Liverpool who tested people for allergies and food intolerances.

Twelve people were tested and the day ran from 9am to 9pm.

Helen Rodgers, counsellor at the centre, said: "It was a fantastic day. Work just didn't stop and a lot of people found out a lot more about themselves.

"It gave them an insight into why their life might not be as energetic as they would like it to be and why they don't feel as healthy.

"A lot of times the most likely culprits are yeast, wheat and dairy product intolerances. It's always the food you really like that you're often intolerant to.

"I found that I was intolerant to coffee and I'd have a hard time giving that up."

The next allergy testing session will be next month.
