A PIONEERING new insurance package for karting enthusiasts has been launched by a Bury insurance and risk management firm.
Hollins-based DTE Insurance Brokers generated hundreds of inquiries when they unveiled their KartGuard product at the International Kart Show in Telford.
The package is tailored specifically for kart racing teams and individual kart owners. It provides cover for kart, tools and equipment while in storage, in transit or at the trackside, including damage to the chassis during races.
DTE Insurance Brokers' associate director Lee Caraher said: "With more than 8,000 regular karters in the UK, I believe there will be considerable demand for the product. We came away from the kart show with more than 200 warm inquiries, ranging from individual karters to manufacturers and circuit operators."
KartGuard will be DTE's first motorsport insurance product available online at their website www.dteinsurance.com. A further policy for racing cars and trailers is planned.
