THE future of Sough paddling pool will be discussed by West Craven's councillors when they meet tomorrow night.

They will be asked to indicate how they would like to proceed with the pool after various sources of funding to recommission it, including National Lottery Sport England cash and sportsmatch funding, were unsuccessful.

The pool, once a popular spot for families during the summer months, has been out of use since summer 2000 because it does not comply with Health and Safety Regulations or Environment Agency Regulations.

Main issues relate to inability to safeguard against infection, disease and injury because of a lack of filtration and poor water disinfection, to protect against accidental entry to the pool, to provide a safe method of disposal of chlorinated and contaminated water and to provide trained staff to operate the pool.
