WORKERS at the M65 Services in Darwen have collected a 700 name petition supporting their bid to have the name of the facility changed.

The campaign was set up by the services' managers and attracted 400 signatures in the first four days.

Now bosses are looking to reach 1,000 by the end of the week.

The petition was placed in all three of the services complexes and has been signed by visitors.

Andy Coverdale, site manager, said: "We've even had people coming in especially to sign the petition which is fantastic. Initially we were hoping to get up to 1,000 by the end of last week but now we are giving people a bit more time."

Andy wants to put pressure on the Highways Agency to change the sign so workers can recognise their workplace as Darwen Services.
