BOTH defences had solid games in what proved to be a tough midfield battle when PNE Under 12 Whites visited Lytham YMCA.
Both teams played well but did not creating many goal-scoring opportunities.
Lytham took the lead after a quick break with a well placed shot past Carissa Iannone. By the last quarter, though, the Whites were in command with Danielle Boyle working hard both supporting the attackers and defence.
The equaliser came after Nicola Rawlinson raced down the right wing and crossed a square ball to Charlotte Gregory who knocked the ball home.
Preston pressed forward again when Charlotte Bolan went on a great run down the right and hit a great shot which the keeper could only parry. It fell to Danielle Boyle who shot, only for the keeper to drop on the ball just before it crossed the line.
Lytham were now hanging on and in the last minute gave away two free kicks in dangerous positions and Charlotte Bolan shaved the post with a great shot with one of them.
