WITH all the social and other activities which have been taking place since Christmas, one project has tended to get overlooked -- the logo competition.

To explain, it was thought a good idea for Forever Bury to have its own distinctive ssymbol instead of using the club's logo, which is effectively the Bury Metropolitan Council coat of arms.

So, Simon Egan, Forever Bury secretary and the man who organises the website, announced a competition among members to design a logo for the society. Designing an effective logo is no easy task. Big commercial firms pay out thousands of pounds for what they hope will be a distinctive symbol for their companies, and quite often end up with a "lemon".

Some of us thought Simon would be lucky to get three or four entries. We were wrong. Closing date is March 31 and Simon has already had 11 entries submitted, and good qualify efforts they are too. One which caught the eye was submitted by Cara Croft, a 12-year-old schoolgirl season ticket holder, who sits in the south stand.

We can't show the entries here but anyone with access to the internet can view them on the Forever Bury website. For people who don't have access to the website, Simon is going to add another task to his already considerable work-load, and get the entries printed out to go on public display.

Now that the "Quid a Kid" offer is in abeyance, there have been queries about the price of family tickets for the games at Gigg: One adult and one child £12 (£2 per additional child); two adults and one child £22 (£2 per additional child).

Some supporters have offered to help publicise matches at Gigg by putting up posters in pubs, clubs and work places etc. listing times and dates of forthcoming matches. Pre-printed posters announcing match details are available to be printed off the Forever Bury website, or the club's website www.buryfc.co.uk

There is a match tomorrow when Leyton Orient are visiting, and the re-arranged Oxford United game will be at Gigg Lane on Tuesday evening.

One more date for the diary: the Forever Bury quiz night will be held at the Social Club on Thursday evening, February 20.

Just before the start of the Leyton game, it is planned to present Michael Nelson with his award of Forever Bury Player-of-the-Month, as voted by supporters. He gets a voucher worth £50 to spend at Drury's Menswear of Ramsbottom.

A new sponsor, the Garsdale Country Inn and Restaurant in Woodhill Road, Bury, is putting up the prize for the February Player-of-the-Month.

Hopefully, voting facilities will be extended compared with last month. More details later.

After last Sunday's epic at Torquay, any one of nine might qualify for the accolade.
