I AM glad the leader of the Conservative Party in Blackburn is so optimistic about the future of the town. I really enjoyed my home town being described as a "grotty mill town" (LET, February 12).
I am in total agreement with him that spending money on making a nice place for people to have a meal in the town centre will not improve the look of the town centre.
Is it any wonder, therefore, that the man is the leader of the opposition party in the borough?
Who would want the council to be run by a party which thinks so little of our own town and thinks that demolition is the way forward?
Living in Newcastle, where there is a massive rejuventation programme taking place, shows that investment in a town can make a huge difference and, surely, the same thought process on a smaller scale in Blackburn is the way forward?
