BLACKBURN Rovers and England midfielder David Dunn took time out from training to present certificates to 70 secondary school children in a soccer school at Rovers Academy.

The soccer skills session was run by Rovers' community team in partnership with the town's Education Action Zone.

Rovers provided the facilities and the coaching for year 7 pupils from Darwen Moorland High School, Our Lady and St John Catholic Arts College, Queen's Park Technology College, Darwen Vale High School and Crosshill Special School.

Rovers coach Dave Pilkington, who organised the sessions at Rovers' indoor arena, said: "The kids had a great day and, hopefully, they have learned quite a bit. It's about boosting pupil motivation as much as improving football awareness and skills. And for Dunnie to come and shake everybody by the hand is the icing on the cake." Dunn said: "I think it's great to see so many getting involved here."

The Rovers Community team will hold a second session for primary school children next month.
