RIBBLE Valley residents will soon be able to get on-line quicker and fast, thanks to broadband connection.

People who live within the Clitheroe telephone exchange area will be eligible to subscribe to BT Broadband from April 9, when an upgrade of the Clitheroe exchange is due to be completed.

BT regional director Brian Crouch said: "BT is committed to bringing the benefits of broadband to more and more customers and communities in the North West."

The Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) provides users with a service that operates at ten times the speed of standard internet connections. It also means that the connection is 'always-on' so users needn't worry about running up huge phone bills.

Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans said: "BT has listened to local people and responded positively by making a big investment to bring broadband to Clitheroe.

"I encourage everyone in this area to consider how they could exploit these new wave communications at work and at home so that our own town enjoys all the benefits of economic growth and social prosperity."
