GRAHAM Branch is backing Burnley's "brilliant" fans to roar them on to safety in their remaining games of the season.

The Clarets skipper is calling on supporters to carry the great backing they showed at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday into the final nine Division One games of the season.

With a special offer to entice fans to today's home game with Wimbledon, and vital basement clashes with Derby and Watford still to come, turning Turf Moor into a fortress between now and the end of the season could be the key to survival.

Branch said: "The fans at Forest were brilliant, absolutely brilliant and all the lads really, really do appreciate the support they get.

"So at home, the fans will make a massive difference and it's like playing with an extra man, all the players will tell you that.

"If they get behind us, which I'm sure they will do in the home games we've got left, hopefully we'll get the points for them and that will take us up the table.

"We'll need to be on our game as well, but if we go out with the same attitude we did at Nottingham Forest we should get the points to stay up."

The key to achieving this goal, according to Branch, will be in the results at Turf Moor, where Burnley have comfortably had more joy than in their away games this season.

He added: "If we keep up the home form we've shown so far then that should give us a good shout.

"We have a lot of the bottom sides to play at home so if we win those that should get us out of trouble.

"But every game is like an FA Cup final, they're all massive now because we need to stay in this league.

"As long as we have a big support backing us and getting behind the lads, that will help us do it."
