PEOPLE in Atherton are being warned to be on their guard after a 77-year-old woman was the victim of a robbery by a bogus official.
Police say the victim answered a knock at the door to her home on Brook Street, on Friday, and was confronted by a man claiming to be from the water board. He barged past her, struggled with the victim, and rummaged through her belongings before running off empty handed.
The robber is white, 5ft 6ins tall, possibly in his mid 20s, of slim build. He was wearing a dark anorak, black trousers, and spoke with an Irish accent.
A second man was standing at the bottom of the victim's garden near the gate. He has been described as white, 5ft 6ins tall with a medium build, possibly wearing a grey anorak or top.
