LEIGH Miners Rangers skipper Tommy Goulden will be clocking up the air miles over the next few months as he leads the Great Britain amateur RL squad in Russia and Australia.

Loose-forward Goulden, who skippered his country against France earlier this season, will capatin the Lions in their Victory Cup games in Moscow in May before heading down under in June for GB's clashes with the Austrialian Aboriginals on a seven-game, two-Test, tour.

BARLA Lions manager Neil Baxter said: "Tommy has proved that he is more than capable of doing the job and was captain of the team that beat the full French international side last autumn.

"He has all the right attributes and more importantly has the respect of all the players."

Joining Goulden in the squad is Miners' team-mate Dave Patterson and Leigh East's Danny Kilshaw and Lee Wingfield.

Miners' forward Jon Light is in the stand-by squad.

Goulden is pictured in action against Sheffield Eagles in the Challenge Cup earlier this season.
