A 50-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life after he was knocked down by a car in Bury.
He was crossing the A56 Walmersley Road on Sunday night when he was hit by a Peugeot 306 travelling towards Ramsbottom at about 11.45pm.
The injured man stepped into the road with two friends near to the New Inn public house when the accident happened.
He suffered two broken legs, a fractured elbow and serious internal injuries.
He is currently detained in the Intensive Care Unit at Fairfield hospital, where his condition is described as very poorly.
A 23-year-old man from Bradford who was driving the car was not injured.
