STAFF at a Government filestore in Nelson could take industrial action after claiming they read in a bulletin that their workplace could close.
The filestore at Schofield Mill employs about 100 staff, who read in a question-and-answer sheet that most filestores could be closed by 2007.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) have been campaigning against the privatisation of the filestore and today reacted with anger to the announcement.
They are hoping to meet with Pendle MP Gordon Prentice to discuss the issue.
Branch chairman Martin Jones said: "The opportunities for re-employment in Nelson are limited.
"The staff are extremely angry over the way they have been treated.
"Industrial action is a possibility, but we hope this can be resolved with discussions."
