HOSPITAL patients in Blackburn, Ribble Valley and Hyndburn thought it was their birthday when they were presented with cakes to celebrate a new trust designed to run services in the area.
The NHS said it baked the treats rather than spend money on a lavish party.
And a run-down Hyndburn estate was to receive a £651,000 cash boost to improve its housing.
