DETECTIVES investigating an accident in which a Leigh motorcyclist was killed have charged a third person.

A 16-year-old girl from Chorley has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking and travelling in a vehicle with no insurance and was bailed following an appearance at Wigan Youth Court.

Now, five weeks after the incident, officers are re-appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information about the vehicle or the people involved to get in touch.

At 12.30am on Thursday, February 26, 38-year-old Philip Taylor from Alt Close was riding his Kawasaki through Wigan when he was involved in a collision with a Rover 115 at the junction of Beech Hill Lane and Woodhouse Lane.

Philip, who had been to a meeting of Wigan Pie Eaters Motor Cycle Club, was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary for treatment but died soon afterwards.

The Rover, registration N840 XOC, had been stolen from the Chorley area shortly after 11pm on February 25 and had been seen before the crash in the Beech Hill and Newtown areas of Wigan. Officers are keen to hear from anyone else who may have seen the car during this time.

Detective Inspector Steve Crimmins said: "Philip's funeral was held at Southport Crematorium two weeks ago, and all of his many

friends and family were in attendance, including a convoy of over 100 motorcycles who lead the cortege.

"His family are devastated by his death. We are still appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision in which Philip died to get in touch and we would also like to speak to anyone with information about the occupants of the Rover 115."
