A DES res with a difference is back on the property market.
An underground nuclear bunker in the Breeze Hill area of Atherton goes for auction later this month and the guide price is £8,000 to £12,000.
Last year it was bought by two Atherton businessmen. The bunker dates from the 1950s when there was the increasing threat of nuclear attack. The bunkers were de-commissioned after the collapse of the former Soviet Union.
The concrete underground property is accessible through a 2ft square metal hatch and a 15ft laddered shaft leads to two rooms. The larger room measures 15ft x 7ft 6in. There is a ventilation shaft and battery-powered lighting.
Auctioneers Pugh & Company will offer Lot 148 for sale on April 21 at The Atlantic Suite, Terminal 2, Manchester Airport. Contact Christopher Taylor on 01772 722444.
