A LEIGH man who burgled a neighbour while on bail has been sentenced to 10 months in detention.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Monday that on November 5 Lee Taylor of Hurst Street broke into a neighbour's home in the middle of the night.

At the time 20-year-old Taylor was on bail having stolen a purse from a telephone kiosk and taking a Vauxhall Cavalier without consent from the driveway of a house in Leigh, said John Kelly, prosecuting.

Taylor was due to appear in court on November 26 but failed to appear. He surrendered on January 6 but subsequently breached conditions of his bail and has been in custody since February 10.

Sentencing Taylor, Judge Sean Duncan told him, "You must understand actions have a consequence. Commiting offences while on bail is serious."

Taylor also admitted driving while uninsured and banned him from driving for twelve months.

Judge Duncan said" "People who interfere with other people's motor vehicles and drive uninsured are a menace."
