A NEW dance class -- where wallflowers won't be welcome -- swings into action next month.
When Barnside Jive meet for the first time at Leigh Miners' Club on April 18 etiquette states that ladies may ask men to dance -- and vice versa.
The group was started by Brian Murphy and Lynne Pasquill in September and the Thursday session in Walkden has been a huge success with 80-100 dancers turning up each week
A year later the duo started a Tuesday session at the Formby Hall in Atherton, which now has a regular attendance of between 35-50.
On Sunday, April 18 the third local venue at Leigh Miners Club begins and members have been promoting the group by dancing in the streets to show prospective members what it is all about.
On Saturday April 3 and 17 they will be busking at Tesco in Atherton.
Member Glynis van Dijk said: "Anyone who comes alone has a chance to learn, and during freestyle, the etiquette is that ladies can ask men to dance, and vice versa -- we don't encourage wallflowers!"
