ANGRY residents bombarded Radcliffe Area Board with questions about the future of a footpath.
While some residents wish to keep Osborne Walk, a footpath near to Bolton Road, open as a public right of way, others feel that it should be blocked off.
Bury Council is now in the process of making a decision.
But neighbours living near to Osborne Walk told the meeting on Monday evening, that they are fearing for their lives, as bricks and stones have been thrown through windows backing on to the path. One resident showed a block of stone which had been thrown through the window of a house occupied by an 84-year-old woman.
The chairman of the board, Councillor Barry Briggs, said that an investigation had been undertaken by the local authority as the highways authority.
"Once a recommendation has been made by the investigation, the issue will then go to the planning committee of Bury Council. The outcome could then go to a public inquiry. It is a long process," he said.
