A YOUTH was seen running down a road in Radcliffe kicking out at passing cars before causing significant damage to one parked vehicle, a court heard.

Simon Adrian Proctor (18), of Walker Avenue, Whitefield, admitted a charge of criminal damage to a car estimated at £400.

Proctor admitted to Bury magistrates it had been his 18th birthday and he had drunk so much he could not remember what he had done.

He was sent to an attendance centre in Bolton for 24 hours and ordered to pay £400 compensation.

Mr Mark Broomhead, prosecuting, said a witness, whose sleep had been disturbed, looked out of his window in Stand Lane to see Proctor staggering around shouting and confronting passing cars which he tried to kick. He was

seen to kick a stationary vehicle belonging to Polyfloor Ltd, Radcliffe, leaving dents in the door and wing.

The police arrived on the scene and arrested him. He said he could not remember damaging a vehicle because he had consumed a large quantity of alcohol.

Proctor told the magistrates: "I'd been celebrating my 18th birthday and I had consumed too much. It was a serious mistake and I can tell you it won't happen again. I really am sorry."
