THE 9th Scouts had a visit to Manchester Airport Fire Department where they saw fire engines four times larger than normal size and were allowed to play for about three hours, before the firefighters were called out for routine practice.

The Spring Fayre was a success on Saturday thanks to the usual stalls and helpers. This year the egg decorating stall and the hook a duck game were new additions and were well worth the effort from Dorothy (10th Guides) and the Explorer Group (Pegasus Branch).

Many thanks for manning the stalls to everyone, and also to Tony Leach from Radcliffe Rotary Club for opening the fayre.

Sunday was the Gaddum Challenge where teams from the county assembled at Giant's Seat for the annual event.

There were 50 Scouts taking part and a special thanks goes to the Network Scouts (Phil, Laura and Jon) for policing the road. The winners of this competition will go forward to the Lord Derby Competition later in the year.

The 7/17th had a beach party to say 'goodbye' to Adam Pettie, one of their Beavers, last week. Friday was his last night as he along with his family are emigrating to Australia. Mum, Dad and Lydia (two-and-a-half) were at the party and Adam was given a ceramic 'Beavers Are Best' beaver and lots of English badges for swops when he arrives and finds a Cub pack on the other side of the world. Good luck Adam and family, we hope it all works out for you.
