THIS year marks the tenth anniversary of the Holcombe Hill Challenge and organisers want to make it in something of a reunion.

The challenge, to climb Holcombe Hill, is part of the Bury Red Rose Festival.

And organisers are hoping those who have taken up the challenge in the past nine years will take part again and make into a "super reunion".

Marie Caldwell, of the Northern Institute of Massage which sponsors the annual event, said: "We would like to make it a special occasion by raising even more money than usual.

"I am hoping to have extra spot prizes, special certificates and as usual, everyone is invited into the Hare and Hounds at the end for free refreshments."

There is a trophy for the school raising the most sponsorship.

"This event is not a race, merely a challenge, to support our local hospice. In the past very young people have joined in, with their parents and grandparents, to have a fun day," said Marie.

The Holcombe Hill Challenge takes place on Sunday, April 25, at 11am. Those wanting to take part should just turn up on the day.

Sponsorship forms are available at Bury Hospice Office on The Rock, Bury or by ringing 01204 88 7305. Those simply wishing to take part can make a donation.
