A BURNLEY textile boss described Lancashire cotton workers' demands for a 40-hour week as "frivolous".
Sir John Grey, president of the Cotton Manufacturer's Association, said Lancashire needed all the workers it could get and that he hoped factory owners would reject the demands "out of hand."
Elsewhere, a Boundary Commission survey recommended Darwen merge with neighbouring wards as it did not have enough voters to justify an MP.
