A SOLDIER has won an award after only 20 weeks in the army.
Private Adam Mossop, 17, a former pupil of St Augustines, Billington, was presented with a trophy for best endeavour in his training platoon.
Adam joined the army in September 2003 and completed 20 weeks of basic training at the Army Training Regiment in Hertfordshire.
Training covered physical training, first aid, survival techniques and marksmanship.
He also took part in a week-long adventure training exercise in Surrey, where he learned to rock climb, abseil, canoe and navigate using a map and compass.
Adam said: "Adventure training was something I hadn't done before and I really enjoyed it, especially the rock climbing and abseiling."
