DEAN West admits he was expecting the Doomsday scenario of seeing contract talks with Burnley put on hold.
The 31-year-old defender, a Stan Ternent signing from Bury five years ago, is one of four Burnley players who are facing an uncertain future until the Clarets appoint a new manager at Turf Moor.
West insists he still wants to sign a new contract with Burnley, but revealed several other clubs have already swooped to try to secure his services.
He said: "What has happened is nothing new to me because it happened two years ago, so I was expecting it.
"Other clubs have been showing an interest already, so at the moment I am resigned to going.
"If an offer comes up somewhere else, I have to take it because if the new manager comes in at Burnley and doesn't fancy me, it could be too late.
"I would still like to stay at Burnley if I'm honest because I've loved my time there.
"But even if a deal is forthcoming it could be next week or next month and I can't afford to wait."
