THE axe has fallen on Chapelfield Post Office in Radcliffe.
It will shut on June 15 and follows an announcement that Radcliffe Hall Post Office, in Cross Lane, will close on May 22.
Chapelfield, on Stand Lane, is one of six branches to close in Bury South as part of a package of closures. Besses o'th' Barn, Hillock and Park Lane branches in Whitefield and the Whittaker Lane branch in Prestwich have also failed to get a reprieve. Whitefield Post Office will not reopen.
