ON Sunday, the level of the Island Lodge was up and it fished well for skimmer bream.

Last Thursday, the venue was the same as for the second target match.

Chris Hogan and Roy Gough tied for first place with 1-6-12, while John Fletcher took third place with 1-5-5.

In the Pilsworth Fishery Monday Open, held on the Bottom Ponds, M. Davidson (Swinton) had top weight 71-8-0.

In second place, Bernard Taylor (Fisherman's Way) took 26-0-0 while S. Colvin (New Phoenix) took 18-12-0 for third place.

On Wednesday in the Pilsworth Open, held on the Match Lake, Bill Brierley (GTI Sports) took top weight of 17-4-0. In second place was Roy Gough (Fisherman's Way) 14-10-0 and third, D. Keenan (Whitworth Valley) 12-0-0.

In the Bradshaw Hall Fisheries Open, held on No 6 Lodge, and fished by 20 anglers, Dave Holland (Tri Cast Highfield) had top weight of 55-8-0.

In second place was A. Applegate (Bradshaw) with 25-8-0 while Dave Jowett (jnr) of Fisherman's Way took 17-8-0 in third place. Alan Crook (Fisherman's Way) took 11-0-0 for fourth.

In the latest Lower Kearsley AC Open, held on the Bridgewater Canal, between Edge Lane and Dane Road, quality bream featured in the leading weights.

Top weight fell to Mathew Forster (Sensas NW) with 15-9-0 - three quality bream, backed up with skimmer.

In second place, Neil Smith (Warrington) had 13-15-0, and in third place, Steve Martin (Swinton AC) had 12-8-0.

In the latest Marsden Star Kellie Hexham Charity Open, held on the Leeds-Liverpool canal on the "stick ups" at Barnoldswick, Ian Scott (Rochdale) had top weight of 10-12-4.

In second place, C. Worth (Rochdale) had 9-15-4, and in third place, J. Kostilec (Burnley) took 7-7-12.

ROYAL HOTEL SEA ANGLERS

ON Sunday, a party travelled down to Rhyl to fish aboard Merlin.

Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, the trip was called off at the arrival point.

The next trip to Rhyl is on Saturday, May 29, to fish aboard Jenson.

This is a 12-hour wrecking trip, the area being renown for far-off deep sea wrecks.

Next meeting will be on Sunday, May 30 at 1.30pm.

This is the latest date for deposits to be in for the 2005 trip to Port Sumner, Ireland. A £50 deposit is required.

BURY SOCIETY SENIOR SECTION

THE Jubilee Cup match will be played on Sunday, May 23 on the Island Lodge, draw 9am, fishing 10am to 3pm.

The fourth Target match will be held on the same venue on Thursday, May 20. Draw 5pm to 5.30pm, fishing 6pm to 9pm.

Nominations are required from members who wish to fish the Division One National Championship, to be fished on the tidal and non-tidal River Trent on Saturday, July 17.

Names for a 12-man squad, plus up to eight reserves, have to be submitted by June 18, 2005.

Those wanting to nominate should submit the name to the Fisherman's Way.

I have entry forms for the Veterans' National Angling Championship, to be fished on the Grand Union canal, Milton Keynes, on Wednesday, August 4.

Entry fee £7.50 plus optional pools; £3 whole match; £2 section (10 pegs). Entries to be submitted by Wednesday, July 7.
