THE preferred system of refuse collection suggested by "Annoyed" (Letters, May 7) is to abandon the separate collection of items for recycling and chuck everything into the grey bin.

Clearly he can't be serious in suggesting that it would be more cost-effective to bin the lot rather than separating out the recyclables. What "Annoyed" is really proposing is the abandonment of most of our recycling activity.

I am aware that "Annoyed" might be a political opportunist seeking to capitalise on people's reluctance to change, but on present evidence I think that the conclusion we are entitled to draw is that "Annoyed" is simply either too idle, or too uncaring, to co-operate with recycling which will be beneficial to the environment and will produce considerable savings for the council tax-payers of the borough.
