YOUNG artists are being encouraged to come up with imaginative designs to be made into T-shirts for Rossendale Valley Motorbike Show.

The competition, introduced last year, was such a success organisers have decided to invite talented youngsters to enter designs again this year.

Carl Nelson, from NCS Support Services in Cloughfold, has agreed to sponsor the competition as well as provide prizes for the winning primary and secondary schools. Designers will each receive £25 of art materials.

Last year around 350 children impressed judges with their entries.

The winning designs by Rachael Jordan, of Fearns High School, Stacksteads, and Matthew Davis, then of Helmshore Primary School, were printed and sold on the day.

Fred Tolley, president of the RVMS, said: "We are pleased that NCS Support Services are playing a major support role this year and that Rossendale school pupils will get the opportunity to take part in the very successful T-shirt design competition."

Designs can use a maximum of three colours and will be printed on the front of a white T-shirt.

Letters inviting entries are going out to all schools in Rossendale and designs must arrive at the bike show office at 5 Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, no later than June 18. Winners will be notified by July 2.
