A WORLD superstar has been booked to play a free concert in Blackburn this summer...can you guess who it is yet?

Rolf Harris, renowned painter, singer, songwriter, TV presenter and inventor of the Stylophone, has agreed to appear at Blackburn with Darwen Council's Arts In The Park Festival on July 10.

And when the colourful Aussie takes to the stage for the Corporation Park concert, following in the footsteps of chart-toppers Liberty X and Coronation Street's Kevin Kennedy, Rolf will belt out songs from his impressive back catalogue.

The 'Wizard of Aussie' boasts an impressive CV. As well as several hit TV shows, Rolf had a number one hit in 1969 with Two Little Boys and recently played to a crowd of thousands at the Glastonbury festival.

But he is also famous for his prowess with a paintbrush and his 1980s television show, Hey Presto - It's Rolf!, made him a firm favourite in Britain.

As well as painting huge murals, Rolf performed hit songs accompanied by his wobble board, Stylophone and didgeridoo.

His last chart hit was a cover version of Queen's classic Bohemian Rhapsody in 1997.

Steve Rigby, Blackburn with Darwen Council's director of culture, leisure and sport, said: "The council are most excited at having secured Rolf Harris.

"Generations of the borough's residents have grown up with Rolf's music, paintings and television shows over the past 40 years and signing him up to the Arts in the Park bill is a real coup.

"We feel he will bring a real sense of fun to the evening and end the day's entertainment on a real high."

The three-day festival will feature a host of other acts and performers and the closing Sunday will again be devoted to classical music.
