A NEW high of £1.35 a gallon was being charged at a Blackburn garage which was forced to put up the cost of fuel by more than 35p in the space of a few hours.
The petrol station had been bought for Skewbridge service station in Whalley New Road and proprietor Mr Chris Hampshire said: "It is a simple case of charging these prices or closing."
Mr Hampshire put up the prices when his stocks of Shell petrol started to run out.
