IT'S been a successful time for Bury Shukokai Karate Club coach Peter Allen and his proteges.

In recent competitions they came out on top in two team events, winning the North West Karate Championships and then excelling at the corresponding North East event.

The young squad, all under the age of fifteen, will also be competing in the Budo Nord World Cup in Sweden.

Meanwhile, Peter was re-elected to stand on the EKGB's (English Karate Governing Body) board of directors for the third successive year.

Along with this post, he will also become a regional karate coach for the EKGB and in addition, will be taking a squad to the European Karate Regional Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Two students from the club were selected, by way of fight offs, and won through to compete on behalf of their region and country.

The talented twosome are Alex Mason and Sarah Kay and they have been presented with their regional EKGB badges.
