BACUP-BORN opera star Sean Ruane was the special guest at the opening of new £2.8m showcase office development in his home town.
Ruane, who has sung at a variety of international events this year, interrupted his rehearsals to give a special solo performance to invited guests at the official opening of the Kingfisher Centre at Futures Park in Bacup yesterday.
The renowned tenor travelled to Bacup especially for the Futures Park opening and returned to London after his brief performance.
"I was flattered to be asked to open the building, which I hope will be a real success for Rossendale," he said.
"I live in Rawtenstall and I am proud to say I am from Rossendale.
"I am happy to support anything which will help the area," he added.
Sean wowed the audience with his performance and impressed the Mayor of Rossendale, Coun Eileen Kershaw, by singing to her.
The Kingfisher Centre at Futures Park is a 30,000-sq ft managed office complex.
When full the centre will bring over 150 jobs to the area in 50 managed office units.
