PLANS to relaunch the Briercliffe Gala, 14 years after the event died out because lack of support, look set to go ahead.
More than 30 attended a public meeting to offer their support to the organising committee, which hopes to resurrect the once-popular event.
The committee had warned people in the Briercliffe area that the project would fail if they did not get enough people to come forward to help.
But committee secretary Tracy Howard said the community had rallied round.
"The meeting went well. People turned up with lots of ideas and many have offered to help get the event off the ground.
"The next step is to get the funding together to pay for the gala. We will be applying for funding and also holding some fund-raising events in the near future.
"We need residents to continue their support."
