RESIDENTS at a Lowton sheltered housing scheme hope to toast a world record with tea and buns.
On Friday at 3pm residents of Elmridge Court, Lowton, are taking part in the world's largest simultaneous tea party in a bid to break the current total of guests and win an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
Over 150 retirement homes schemes are joining the fun and they are hoping to break the Swedish record of 9,642 set in March 2001.
Hanover Housing Association schemes throughout the country are involved and guests are invited to contribute their favourite confections.
Tim Smith, manager at Elmridge Court, said: "We are excited about having a go at this world record attempt. We have a few volunteers making scones and sponges. I can't think of a nicer way to try and break a record."
