BURNLEY Council is to hold an open day to raise awareness about a condition that affects nearly 2.5 million people nationwide.
On Wednesday, June 16, the council's Healthy Lifestyle team will be highlighting diabetes.
The event at the Vincent Farrell Community Centre, is being run in partnership with Burnley Pendle and Rossendale Primary Care Trust and East Lancashire NHS Trust.
Free health checks, including blood glucose tests, blood pressure tests and body fat monitoring will be on offer.
There will also be the opportunity to receive healthy eating advice from dieticians.
The day, in Temple Street, Burnley runs between 1pm and 4.30pm. From 12.30pm a walk and Tai Chi will be staged at Towneley Park.
here will also be T4D, an afternoon tea event to raise money for Diabetes UK.
