BURNLEY look set for an Austrian pre-season adventure.

New manager Steve Cotterill met with chairman Barry Kilby yesterday to discuss options for a summer tour to either Denmark, Austria or Holland.

Plans have yet to be confirmed, but Austria appears to be the destination that will get the nod at this stage. After competing in the Isle of Man Football Festival for four consecutive years, the squad and management staff could be able to look forward to spending nine days in the central European country.

This comes on the back of Cotterill confirming his first pre-season friendly with Everton at Turf Moor on July 22.

And the Clarets chief has been busy making plans to replenish his squad in preparation for pre-season games.

Enquiries have been made to a number of un-named players, but Cotterill may have to play the waiting game before he makes his first signing as out of contract players weigh up their options.

"I've spoken to a few people but you don't make a signing overnight," said the former Cheltenham and Stoke manager, whose appointment at Turf Moor appears to have gone down well with fans.

Season tickets have been selling at a rate of over three and a half times more than at this time in previous years.

Sales have almost reached the 8,000 mark, and club officials believe that is largely due to supporters being eager to witness a new era under Cotterill.

Marketing and communications manager Edoardo Abis said: "We have sold 100 season tickets since last Friday, which is great because we would only usually sell about 28 in that time at this stage of the year.

"So we are well on course to beat last season's figures.

"The new manager has had a positive effect because people see that we are looking to move forward.

"We sent out a letter from the new manager to about 1,600 people who hadn't renewed their season tickets yet and that appears to have had an impact on sales."
