CHORLEY'S first Northern Premier League 20/20 Cup match produced a run-feast and some very big-hitting to delight a large crowd at Windsor Park.

The home side ran out comfortable winners over Leyland Motors by 40 runs.

Captain for the night Tom Smith set the tone striking three sixes in one over on his way to 72 from 51 balls and professional Stephen John weighed in with five sixes in a whirlwind knock of 82 from just 56 balls.

Chorley closed on 195 for seven and Motors, after a lightning start in reply, lost professional Atif Ashraf in a run-out mix-up which triggered something of a collapse.

There was a late-order recovery as the visitors' total to was lifted to a respectable 155 for eight.

In the next round of matches next Tuesday, Chorley travel to Leyland before the potential title showdown with Darwen at Windsor Park on Tuesday, June 22.

A more important match follows on Sunday, June 27 when Chorley travel to play Liverpool ECB Premier Competition champions Bootle in the regional final of the Cockspur Cup National Knockout.
