ASTLEY & Tyldesley cycle speedway visited Bury last Thursday evening for a Northern League match.
Bury took an 8 points lead after heat 4, but A & T fought back and took the lead for the first time in heat 12. However, Bury regained the lead in heat 14, to put them 2 points up going into the last race.
Finnigan made the start for A & T, with Dyson holding Binkowski and Rothwell out. Binkowski put Dyson under great pressure, and when Dyson slipped, Binkowski was past in a flash to join his partner for a match winning 7-3 heat win.
Astley & Tyldesley travelled to Stockport to take on Tameside in a Northern League match, featuring the league's two unbeaten teams.
A & T held a 4 points lead after three races, but Tameside levelled in the next race. Two highly controversial decisions by the home based official resulted in two exclusions for A & T's Frank Finnigan, as Tameside moved into an astonishing interval lead of 45-33.
A & T bounced back after the break and reduced Tameside's lead to 8 points. The last four heats were all shared, as Tameside protected the lead they had gained from the first half, to win 77-69.
The club is holding a promotional demonstration match and Come & Try It session for newcomers, as part of National Bike Week on Tuesday, June 15 starting at 7pm. All interested parties are welcome to attend at the cycle speedway track at the Astley & Tyldesley Miners' Welfare Club.
