WORLD champion stock car racer Barry Giblin has been honoured by the town's rotarians.
Radcliffe Rotary Club has presented the 25-year-old driver with the Ernest Kay Memorial Award for Achievement for his success on the track.
Barry's name was put forward by the members of the club after he became the 2003 Formula Two Stock Car world champion. He has since become the British champion for 2004.
Engineer Barry works for his father's business, David Golding Motor Engineers, in Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe. He started racing mini stock cars in 1991 at the age of 12 and has gone on to win many national and international prizes.
Barry, from Little Lever, said: "The award marks outstanding achievement in my sport. I'm very proud to receive the award. It's quite touching."
The award, named after past member Ernest Kay, was presented by his daughters, Barbara Tithers and Valerie Maden.
This is the second time that a Radcliffe world champion has received the accolade. Three years ago, kick boxing champion Jussey Lowe received the award.
